Sheila Mitchell-Green is the founder and CEO of SOLES, A shoe experience, a women’s shoe boutique located in East Mount Airy in Philadelphia, PA. In September of 2008, after an appearance on The Steve Harvey Morning Show drove a mass buying population to the SOLES webpage, www.soles-shoes.com, SOLES closed its retail location and transitioned into a web-based business.
Sheila Mitchell-Green has an extensive background in healthcare, information technology and project management, but her passion has always been shoes. Despite her corporate apparel, you could always look down and find a pair of 2 tone spectators to match every outfit. She took that passion for shoes and channeled it into a boutique where the tag line, “shoe the bills can wait for”, is not advocated, but understood.
She found that the concepts for managing IT projects translate into all business ventures. Using her talent for organizing projects, she takes that approach to setting up and consulting others on starting and maintaining business. SOLES, went from concept to fruition in 90days. Her technology background has allowed her to master the art of web design whereas she has built and maintains SOLES beautiful and informative website. She uses her background in marketing to draw and maintain a large audience to the web-pages.
SOLES, A shoe experience opened in March 2006 and changed the face of the Mount Airy corridor where it existed until September 2008 when it transitioned into a web-based boutique. They are the 2007 winners of The Minority Business Plan competition, $20,000 First Prize Retail Cateogory, The Enterprise Center, 2007 Enterprising Woman Business Plan Competition $3,000 First Prize Retail Catagory from The Business Center at New Covenant, The Best of The Northwest, Fox 29 2007 & 2008 Hotlist Winner Best Women’s Shoes.
Sheila also used her creativity and created a line of earrings which can be found in Artista Boutique in Mt Airy, and Octavio Miles Boutique in Manayunk.
